With the year’s most inclement weather directly around the corner, Converse has reworked some of its classic silhouettes, like the Chuck Taylor, and revitalized others for a second annual wintertime collection — equally as apt for a backcountry hike as it is for a rainy day in the world’s biggest metropolises.
The centerpiece of the Boston-based brand’s ready-for-anything offering is the rugged Chuck Taylor MC18, a silhouette that was first introduced in 2018. It’s an updated take on the Extreme Cold Weather Boot, an all-rubber creation that Converse originally produced for the military way back in the 1950’s.
That’s not all for contemporary takes on archival designs, however. There’s also the Chuck 70 Bosey and Bosey MC, both of which display rugged toe guards first crafted by Converse’s cobblers back in the 1940’s, juxtaposed with a revamped construction to add traction/protection for the modern-day commuter. Last but certainly not least, there’s a women’s Chuck Taylor All Star Lugged, with a durable outsole for grip, a GORE-TEX inner bootie for water/salt resistance, and a soft fleece lining that ensures both toasty warmth and all-day comfort.
